FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is whole bean cacao and how is it different?

Whole bean cacao is cacao in its most complete and unaltered form. The entire bean, roasted and nothing removed, nothing added. Most cacao products you find have been heavily processed, stripped of their natural fats, and reduced to a powder or a compound or recombined with extra cocoa butter. Whole bean cacao retains everything the bean naturally contains, its fats, its nutrients, its flavour, its complexity. It is cacao as nature intended it.

Can it replace tea or coffee?

For many people, yes. Cacao offers a gentle, grounded alertness without the stress activation, crashes, or sleep disruption that coffee causes. It works with your body rather than pushing against it. That said, cacao is not a stimulant replacement. It is something different entirely. A nourishing ritual for calm and long term vitality rather than a jolt. If you are looking for calm focus and a warm morning drink that actually supports your body, cacao is it.

Is cacao same as cacao powder?

No. Cacao powder is what remains after the natural fats have been removed from the bean. It is a processed, incomplete version of cacao. Whole cacao retains all of its natural fats, nutrients, and compounds intact. The difference in flavour, texture, and nutrition is significant. Cacao powder is to whole cacao what skimmed milk is to full cream. The same origin, a very different thing.

How can I use cacao?

Cacao is remarkably versatile but don't look at it as just another drink. Its effects on the mind and body make it something worth pairing with a meditation, a practice, or a daily ritual. Let it be the beginning of something intentional rather than just a beverage you consume. Beyond that, you can eat it, drink it, or use it across a wide range of recipes. The form you choose depends on what you are making, but the principle remains the same. Real cacao, used simply, needs very little to shine.

Does fresh matter in cacao?

Enormously. Cacao begins losing its flavour, aroma, and nutritional potency the moment it is processed. Every day on a shelf is a day of loss. Fresh cacao is bolder, richer, and more nutritionally alive than anything that has been sitting in a warehouse or on a shelf. Most people have never experienced truly fresh cacao. Once you do, the difference is impossible to ignore.
